Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 cases count crosses 1,000 mark

Total count of confirmed COVID-19 infections in Sri Lanka surpassed the grim milestone of 1,000 on Tuesday (19).
Twenty-eight (28) more persons tested positive for coronavirus as of 6.00 pm, while the cases tally soared to 1,020.
All these patients have been identified as navy men who are undergoing quarantine at the facility in Oluvil, says the Department of Government Information.
In the meantime, 10 coronavirus patients were discharged from Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Iranawila Hospital and Homagama Base Hospital earlier today. They have brought the recoveries tally to 569.
The Epidemiology Unit says, 442 active cases are currently under medical care at the IDH Hospital, Welikanda Base Hospital, Colombo East Base Hospital, Iranawila Hospital, Kattankudy Base Hospital, Navy Hospital and Homagama Base Hospital.
Nine coronavirus patients in the country have succumbed to the virus thus far.
