State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control Sudarshini Fernandopulle says next four weeks will be decisive for Sri Lanka in its efforts to contain the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus.
State Minister Fernandopulle requested the public to follow health advice in a stringent manner during the month of May.
She noted health units need public support in order to protect the people.
State Minister Fernandopulle said while many are concerned about whether there are adequate Intensive Care Unit beds, High Dependency Units and sufficient oxygen, the availability of oxygen depends on the people’s behaviour during this month.
She stressed the number of COVID-19 patients may increase rapidly if the public behaves in a reckless manner.
State Minister Sudarshini Fernandopulle noted that regardless of the variant, coronavirus spread in the same manner and therefore urged the public to act in a responsible manner over the next four weeks.
