15,000 Sputnik-V doses arrive in Sri Lanka

A stock of 15,000 doses of the Russian manufactured Sputnik-V vaccine has arrived in the island.
The stock arrived onboard a cargo flight at around 1.15am.
State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Channa Jayasumana was at the Katunayake International Airport to accept the stock.
Vaccine doses were then transported in special vehicles to State Pharmaceuticals Corporation warehouses.
The Cabinet of Ministers last month approved the purchase of six million doses of the Sputnik-V vaccine at a cost of US $69.65 million.
The purchase was approved on the recommendation of the Cabinet appointed negotiation committee.
